The Isle of Man Maritime Group was formed to promote the Isle of Man as a centre of maritime excellence and the maritime related services provided by members. Since its formation, the Group has gone from strength to strength and now our membership consists of twenty three leading maritime organisations.
The Group's inaugural event was held at the International Festival of Business 2014 during the Maritime, Logistics and Energy Week and was hailed as a great success by festival organisers and government officials.
In 2015 the Group held an event during London International Shipping Week at the historic Trinity House, with Manx actors Chris and Howard Caine writing and performing a set of unique sketches that brought to life the Isle of Man’s maritime heritage. In between these sketches the award winning Celtic band, Barrule performed its fresh take on traditional and contemporary Manx music. Towards the end of the evening Chris and Howard led the guests in raising the roof in a loud and exuberant sea shanty.
The Group has most recently returned to the International Festival for Business in 2016, holding another 'dare to be different' on board the Kathleen & May. We are now looking forward to holding another event during LISW 2017.
